Ridgewood Athletics Centre hold a variety of special events over the course of the season.
Check out the list below to see how it affects the weekly competition. All athletes will be given the opportunity to participate in these events unless otherwise stated. Athletics West also conduct State Events in addition to Ridgewood Events. For more information about Athletics West Events click HERE

Centre Combined Event Championships
Dates: Saturday 18th November 2023
The 2023 Centre Combined Event Championships will be held in November.
Athletes will compete in 5 events across the morning and earn points for their achievements. At the end of competition, points are calculated and the top 3 athletes for each age group/gender will be awarded medals.
Athletes must compete in all events offered for their age group/gender to be eligible for medals.
Clubs will also be competing for the Centre Multi Event Perpetual Shield.

2023 Smith-Bossert Challenge

Date: 25th November 2023
Times: 7am Ridgewood LAC Vs Joondalup LAC It's one of the biggest rivalries in the Northern Suburbs 2023 Venue - HBF Arena, Joondalup ALL athletes are encouraged to come and compete against our closest neighbours to assist us retain the shield for another season. With all athletes participating in a variety of events including 100m, middle distance, throws and jumps it's bound to be a great day for the whole family! Please remember to wear your registration numbers. Athletes are encouraged to wear Ridgewood Uniform but this is not compulsory, club uniform will be acceptable.
Parents may be required to fulfil a roster as per the allocated roster to clubs. |
2023 Smith Bossert Challenge Program of Events
McGrath Foundation Pinkletics

Date: 2nd December 2023
This day all athletes can dress up in PINK to raise money for breast cancer with the McGrath Foundation. Ridgewood Athletics would like to see all athletes participate. We encourage all clubs to add to this cause by holding their own fundraising activity on the day itself. We would like to see any may athletes, coaches and parents their brightest, prettiest, funniest pink costumes. Please note that registration numbers must still be worn for this event. |

Christmas Special Event
Date: Thursday 14th December 2023
Times 4:30pm to 6:30pm
Our final event at Ridgewood Oval for 2023 will be a special Christmas event with fun events and a final opportunity for our relay teams to have a final practice before the State Championships on Saturday.
With fun and games, and special guests it is sure to be a great night.
Events will be team based with teams made up in divisions:

MID-SEASON BREAK
Friday Twilight Competition
Date: Friday 19th January 2024
1500m will commence at 4:30pm with Main Program from 5pm
Due to scheduling conflicts and venue availability this will be our only Twilight Competition this season.

Fusion Cup 2024

Date: Saturday 16th March 2024
Times TBC Fusion Cup is BACK for 2024, and this season is our FINAL EVENT OF THE SEASON. This Special Event is a Club/Team Based Competition where athletes compete for their club to earn points across a variety of events. Fusion Cup is the biggest event of the season, and this year we are saving the best for last! Can Yanchep win a 3 Peat or will another club rally to take the win in 2024? |

2023 Ridgewood Athletics Opening Day

The 2023/24 Season is here!
Join us for our first competition of the season and start earning those Personal Bests (PB's). A selection of guests will be invited to attend to the opening of the new Athletics season and speak a word of encouragement, motivation and to thank our winter coaches and athletes who have represented Ridgewood throughout the winter at local and national competitions. There will be a march of athletes in their respective clubs prior to the speeches.
Athletes are to be at the oval at 7.30 am to ensure a timely start of the day.
NOTE: Our State Relay selection process will commence from the opening day onwards

Perth Children's Hospital All Age Relay 2023

This special event includes a Club Vs. Club Grand Relay with participation for a Gold Coin Donation. All money raised is donated to the Perth Children's Hospital Foundation. Donations can be made at the Canteen and throughout the season. |
